#WinVictoryLove: Valentine Derrey of France gives the three fingered salute, which can be seen all around the tournament site at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. The salute was introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai – and the founder of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters – at the 2013 Government Summit in Dubai. It symbolises “WIN-VICTORY-LOVE.” The salute is even represented as a statue in front of the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa – in Downtown Dubai.
The first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters continued on Thursday at Emirates Golf Club after play was suspended on Wednesday following the tragic death of caddie Maximilian Zechmann. A minute’s silence was held at midday (12:00) and all competitors stopped play as a mark of respect.
The tournament has been reduced to 54 holes and round two tee times remain as originally published, but the second round will be played on Friday. After the conclusion of 36 holes, a cut will be made to the top 60 professionals and ties ahead of the third and final round, which will be played on Saturday 10th December.
This is the final Ranking event of the 2016 Ladies European Tour calendar, which will determine playing categories for next season and after the conclusion of the tournament, the top 80 players on the official Ranking will retain Category 5 Membership of the LET for 2017.
