MERCEDES-BENZ FOR HOLE-IN-ONE AT OMEGA DUBAI LADIES MASTERS

A Mercedes-Benz GLC 250, a full-size luxury crossover SUV, will be presented to the first professional golfer scoring a hole-in-one on the par-3, 15th hole during the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at Emirates Golf Club from December 7 to 10.

As the Official Car of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Gargash Enterprises, the authorised general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, will also roll out a gleaming fleet of luxury SUVs through SIXT rent a car to chauffeur marquee players to and from the tournament as well as continuing a significant on-site presence.

“We are excited to continue our strong partnership with the region’s premier golfing event, which has played a key role in positioning Dubai as a major golfing destination,” said Karl-Johan Sandesjo CEO of Gargash Enterprises.

“A hole-in-one is always a result of talent and luck, but it certainly adds to the excitement of a tournament,” he said.

“Being the official car sponsor of the event, we are delighted to offer a Mercedes-Benz GLC 250 for anyone accomplishing the feat on the 15th. I am sure it will capture the attention of the tournament,” he added.

The Official Automobile Partner of The Masters in Augusta as well as the Official Patron of the PGA of America, which boasts the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship in its portfolio, Mercedes-Benz has a rich tradition of supporting golf.

Since the inception of the Ladies European Tour event in 2006, four players have recorded holes in one with Connie Chen (South Africa) and Georgia Hall (England) being the two who have aced the 15th.

Rated as one of the toughest of the par three holes on the Majlis course, the 15th hole, measuring 160 yards, demands much respect because the tee is set at an angle to the green. To ace the hole, a player would need to beat heavy odds.

The odds of making a hole-in-one differ from one survey to another. Many reputed magazines have pegged the odds at one in 3,756 for a professional golfer and one in 12,750 for an amateur.

Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice chairman and CEO of golf in DUBAi, the promoters and organizers of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, thanked Mercedes-Benz for adding to the attraction of the event.

“Despite the seemingly improbable odds that a person can hit a golf ball into a hole in one shot from at least 150 yards, it happens all the time. For instance, the 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic witnessed a hole-in-hole in every round!

“The prize will be talking point among players and will help draw a big gallery to the hole. I wish good luck to all players and look forward to seeing someone drive away with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 250.”

The Omega Dubai Ladies Masters is backed by OMEGA as the title sponsor and Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC as sponsor. The co-sponsors are: CNN, Drydocks World & Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, JA Resorts & Hotels, Mercedes-Benz and wasl, while Dubai Duty Free, Neocasa Interiors and Motivate Publishing are the Patrons in golf in DUBAi’s drive to showcase the emirate’s vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
