Boundless Love for Haicang, Xiamen

The third edition of the Xiamen International Ladies Open is being held this week, on October 13 to 16, at the Orient Golf Club in Haicang, Xiamen, China.

On Monday, players from the LET and CLPGA Tours, including Elina Numenpaa, Annabel Dimmock, Leticia Ras-Anderica and Victoria Lovelady, visited local families to show their solidarity with the region following the recent devastation caused to the area by an historical typhoon, including the destruction of many homes.

The players donated rice, cooking oil and cleaning supplies to the affected families. They also visited a local sports center primary school to meet and spend time with children and give them a golf lesson, helping to put smiles on the children’s faces in difficult times.

The final stop was for a photo with the original winner’s tree, which was planted two years ago by Ssu-Chia Cheng and withstood the typhoon.  According to the local district leaders and players, who all were inspired to plant their own championship tree on Sunday, this means that we can expect a strong future for the Xiamen International Open for years to come.
