It was all change early on day three at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open after the leaders teed off at Dundonald Links at 8.59am.
Wales’ Becky Morgan began with a three stroke lead but started her final round with her first bogey of the tournament on the first hole after hitting her approach shot left of the green and leaving her chip shot 10 feet short of the hole.
Meanwhile Frenchwoman Isabelle Boineau almost holed her second for eagle and tapped in for birdie from within two feet to get within one of Morgan.
Sweden’s Linda Wessberg then birdied the second and third to grab a one shot lead after Morgan bogeyed the third.
There was drama at the long fifth when Wessberg holed a massive 50ft putt for eagle moving to 11 under par and two ahead of Boineau, who birdied.
Meanwhile Beth Allen of the United States was tearing up the course in her adopted home Open. Two behind after a monster birdie on the 10th, she then made her sixth birdie of the day on the 12th to get one behind but bogeyed the 13th hole.
Boineau then made her third birdie of the day on the 12th to move into second on 10 under par before being joined by Morgan who birdied the 10th and 12th.
Caroline Hedwall meanwhile completed a final round of 64 in her bid to be one of the leading three players not already exempt poised to earn their spot in next week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open this afternoon.
