Past PING Junior Solheim Cup Players to Tee Up in Morocco

The Ladies European Tour is pleased to demonstrate its support of the development of talented amateur golfers by welcoming four former PING Junior Solheim Cup players to the Lalla Meryem Cup, being played this week at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat. Mathilda Cappeliez from France, Maria Parra and Luna Sobron of Spain and Albane Valenzuela, from Switzerland, are joined by Xiang Sui from China and Lina Belmati of Morocco in the field of 126 competitors.

The invitations are a part of the LET‘s Play strategy which aims to bridge the gap between amateur and professional golf by offering playing opportunities in world class events.

Tournament Director Joao Pinto welcomed players and briefed them on what to expect whilst playing in the tournament. Albane Valenzuela, a member of the 2015 European PING Junior Solheim Cup team, who played in Germany, said: “Playing in the PING Junior Solheim Cup was an incredible experience which gave me an idea of what it is like to play in a high profile tournament. The more events we play at a high level, the more experiences we achieve and therefore the more confidence we get. This helps us to feel more comfortable when coming to an event like the Lalla Meryem Cup.”

She continued: “I am grateful to the Swiss Golf Association for the support and opportunities they give me. They helped me to achieve a certain level that then resulted in my participation in the PING Junior Solheim Cup and now the Lalla Meryem Cup.”

A unique event on the LET schedule, the Lalla Meryem Cup is being played at the same venue as the Trophée Hassan II on the men’s PGA European Tour and both tournaments will take place from Thursday to Sunday concurrently.
