The Laura Davies Foundation Sets Sights on LET Event

Dame Laura Davies, the most successful golfer in the history of the Ladies European Tour (LET), has her sights set on supporting women’s golf in the UK through the Laura Davies Foundation – set up in July 2015 to raise money for causes in the UK and worldwide including Children’s Charities, Junior Girls Golf, and Animal Welfare Charities.

A former world number one and 45-time winner on the LET, Laura has won 79 professional tournaments worldwide, including four Major Championships. Laura has also competed in a record-breaking 12 Solheim Cups and remains the leading all time points scorer. In 2014 she was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame and made a Dame in the Queen’s Birthday Honours before being inducted as one of the first female members of the R&A in February 2015. Laura continues to compete on both the LPGA & LET Tours alongside her philanthropic activities which include the creation of her Foundation.

Since launching the organisation last summer, Laura has made special donations to Breast Cancer Care and ISPS Handa to support golf for the blind. More recently she has focused her attention on inspiring and developing UK talent by aiming to create a new LET tournament here in the UK, hosted by her Foundation.

Speaking about the foundation, Dame Laura Davies said, “I’ve played on the Ladies European Tour since 1985 and have seen it develop and grow incredibly over the years. If I can do anything to help give back to the Tour and play a part in developing the next generation of UK talent then I’d be extremely pleased. Beyond golf, I started the Foundation as a way to raise money for causes worldwide that are close to my heart.”
