(Arras, France – June 8 2005) New Zealand’s Lynnette Brooky has a chance to secure a hat trick of French Ladies Open titles when she tees it up at this week’s Arras Open de France Dames.

“Tinning said if anyone was going to come from behind and steal the win it would be me,” said Brooky, adding, “So I had a chance. But I’m just going to concentrate on keeping the rhythm this week and letting the putts go in the hole.”
Despite her 64 in the second round, Brooky felt the level par 72 she shot on the third day, when Tinning shot a 66, let her down, as did her 76 in the third round at the French Ladies Open last year.
“Even though I had a good finish the third round didn’t do anything to boost my spirits,” Brooky admitted, adding, “But the win’s either going to come or its not so I’ll let my golf do the talking.
“I know that my driving is more positive this year than any other so I’ll just do what my coach tells me to and that’s just trust it and let it go. Those were the words he gave me three years ago and I’ve used them. That’s what I say every time I’m over the ball.”
Brooky uses the help of swing coach, Martin Heyes, from Wexham Park GC near Slough. Last year Heyes helped Brooky add 20-yards to her driving distance, which boosted her confidence and she saw him again yesterday in preparation for the week ahead.
“Last year I wanted it so much as the way they advertised me throughout Arras was just unbelievable,” said Brooky.
“This year because Stephanie’s not here it will be great to take the limelight back. I’ve got so many friends here but my profile has dropped a bit so I’d love to do something to boost it back up.”
Along with Brooky and Tinning, there is also a preponderance of French talent in the field. The Tenerife Ladies Open Champion Ludivine Kreutz, from Rognac, is present. She is currently placed fourth on the LET Money list. Gwladys Nocera from Moulins, is placed third, after finishing runner up on two occasions this season, at the Thailand Ladies Open and the Siemens Austrian Ladies Golf Open.
Marine Monnet-Melocco from Paris is also competing and she currently 13th on the LET Money list. The Siemens Austrian Ladies Golf Open Champion, Federica Piovano from Italy, will also be a strong contender for the title this week following her maiden Tour title three weeks ago as will compatriots Veronica Zorzi and Sophie Sandolo, who finished second and tied third consecutively last week.
