Azahara Muñoz Targets Third Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino Title

Spanish and European Solheim Cup star Azahara Muñoz, is set to tee it up at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana that will take place between November 28 and December 1, staged at the stunning Aloha Golf Club for the second time, in Malaga.

Azahara, who is currently ranked 43rd in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, is the only Spanish player in history to win the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino. The Malaga-born golfer will be looking to lift the title for the third time, after winning at Aloha Golf Club in 2016 and successfully defending her title in 2017, when she delighted the home galleries by securing victory at her home club, Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.

Azahara commented, “I am very excited to play the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino again because it is a very special tournament for me for many reasons. Playing at home always motivates me because I know that I will be surrounded by my friends and family and that is something which encourages me to try to do my best.”

“In addition, it is a tournament where my performances have been very good. I have won the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino twice and it is an additional incentive for me to try and win it for the third time. It will be my last tournament of the season and I’m very excited to finish the season at home.”

Azahara was a member of the winning European Solheim Cup team at Gleneagles, which she has now won three times (2011, 2013 and 2019) and will now be aiming to finish the season in style in Spain by winning the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino for the third time, a feat that has never been achieved by any golfer in the history of this special tournament.
