#HWIO19: Final Round Under Way

The final round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open is under way at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, in temperatures of 31C.

Christine Wolf, looking for her first win on the LET, began the final round with a one-stroke lead ahead of Meghan MacLaren.

Wolf has the chance to bury the demons of last year when she came within touching distance of winning this event, before falling foul of the 18th.

She birdied the closing hole yesterday, but it cost her eight shots last year (double bogey-par-quadruple-double, or 7-5-9-7) and she ended tied second as Becky Morgan claimed the trophy.

Meghan MacLaren’s only previous visit to India produced at tie for ninth in 2017 and she is looking for a third LET title. Marianne Skarpnord and Whitney Hillier start the day two shots back in third.

Wolf made a superb start when she fired an iron in to close range and rolled in a birdie putt on the opening hole to take a two-stroke advantage. She then moved three clear when MacLaren bogeyed the second, having found the greenside bunker.

However, Skarpnord, needing a win to top the order of merit this week, birdied the sixth to get within two strokes of the lead.
