The competition for the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open trophy has become intense as the players head down the final stretch in beautiful, warm and breezy conditions at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi.
Overnight leader Charley Hull and fellow English Solheim Cup star Jodi Ewart Shadoff (pictured) were tied for the lead on seven-under-par after 12 holes.
Hull held a two-stroke lead after her birdie on the sixth hole, but Ewart Shadoff then responded with three consecutive birdies in a row on holes seven, eight and nine, to draw level on six-under.
Hull then slipped one behind with a bogey on 10, but she carded an eagle on the par-5 11th, which Ewart Shadoff birdied, to be on level pegging again.
Ewart Shadoff, in her ninth year on tour, is playing for her first title, while Hull is playing for her third career title and second on the Ladies European Tour.
Marianne Skarpnord was just a stroke behind on five-under-par after making birdie on the long 11th and is in the hunt for her fourth LET title and first in six years, since the 2013 South African Women’s Open. However, she displayed her affection for linksy style courses when she won the 2015 Oates Vic Open on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour, the same week as her fiancé Richard Green won the men’s event and he is acting as her caddie.
