A Welsh school will be welcoming golfing superstar Amy Boulden for a visit next week.
The Ladies European Tour sensation will be officially opening the school’s short game area on Wednesday, November 18.
The 22-year-old, who won the 2014 LET Rookie of the Year after an outstanding debut season, will also be giving a short game master class to members of the Rydal Penrhos Golf Academy in Colwyn Bay, in addition to a question and answer session on what life is like as a professional golfer.
Ian Richardson, golf co-ordinator at Rydal Penrhos, said: “We are delighted that Amy has agreed to come and open our short game area, and everyone at the academy is looking forward to her visit.
“Amy is one of the most exciting talents in the women’s game and our players here at Rydal Penrhos are sure to learn a tremendous amount from her, while also getting an insight into life as a professional golfer.”
Boulden, who is a member at Conwy Golf Club, has been rising through the women’s ranks since she turned professional in September 2013, and produced a career best performance to finish in the top ten at the Ladies British Open this year.
Her first season on the LET proved to be extremely successful with three finishes in the top five which enabled Boulden to finish 18th in the Order Of Merit.
The Llandudno native is also the Women and Girls ambassador for Golf Development Wales, where she is encouraging the next generation of female golfers to take up the sport.
The Rydal Penrhos Golf Academy has gone from strength-to-strength in recent months, with a partnership launched with North Wales Golf Club that will encourage pupils to play and integrate fully as a junior member.
There has also been success on the course at the ISGA Scottish Open, with pupil Louisa Weber taking home both the individual and team nett title with partner Wilson Reyhan.
“We are fortunate at Rydal Penrhos to have some of the best courses in the country on our doorstep, which benefits our golfers immensely,” added Mr Richardson.
“Although in its relative infancy, the Golf Academy has had a great deal of success and we hope that Amy’s visit will spur on our players to even bigger and better things in the future.”
