The Ladies European Tour faces the prospect of a unique and historic Danish double in 2015 if Nanna Koerstz Madsen or Emily Kristine Pedersen win the Rookie of the Year prize and Nicole Broch Larsen can keep her current position on the Order of Merit.
At present, Broch Larsen is ranked third, behind Shanshan Feng and Suzann Pettersen, who have both played in only four Ladies European Tour tournaments this season.
In order to qualify to appear on the final Order of Merit a Member must have played in a minimum of six (6) Ranking Tournaments in the current season.
So far in 2015, Feng and Pettersen have played in four tournaments, while Broch Larsen is playing in her 14th at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
With €217,692.29, Broch Larsen has earned €1684 more than fourth ranked Melissa Reid, who is not playing in France. There will be four more Ranking tournaments this year where Reid can make up ground: at the Xiamen Open, Hero Women’s Indian Open, Sanya Ladies Open and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
There has only been one previous Danish winner of the LET order of merit: Iben Tinning, in 2005, but there has never been a Rookie of the Year from Denmark, let alone a Danish double.
In the current Rookie of the Year standings, Nanna Koertz Madsen, who won the Lalla Aicha Tour School in Morocco last December, is €35,740 ahead of her closest rival Emily Kristine Pedersen. Ssu Chia Cheng from Chinese Taipei, who won the Xiamen Open last year as an amateur, is in third place.
Koertz Madsen, 20 and Pedersen, 19, are both from the town of Smoerum and have spent a lot of time with Broch Larsen, 22, from Hillerød, at various national team training camps.
