French stars give back at Lacoste Chipping Workshop

LACOSTE players Gwladys Nocera, Caroline Afonso, Thomas Levet, Jade Schaeffer and Alexandra Villate gave a chipping masterclass to 70 local children from Mogador Golf School at Golf de l’Océan in Agadir on Wednesday ahead of the Lalla Meryem Cup.

For the fourth consecutive year, the exhibition and training gave the children from the Association Les Birdies Mogador the chance to meet and learn from the professional players.

Association Les Birdies Mogador has been supported by the LACOSTE Foundation since its creation and enables children aged 6-14 from the neighbouring villages of Essaouira to enjoy golf instruction at the Mogador resort.

Mogador Golf School’s project focuses on a pretty tough challenge: opening the doors to one of the most elitist sports to a bunch of kids from Essaouira and the surrounding towns.

Through the coaching, the girls and boys learn values such as respect towards others and self-control and develop a taste for higher achievements.

Besides the golf training program, with 8 to 12 hours of practice per week, the children also have the opportunity to become tomorrow’s golf industry professionals in roles such as teaching, caddying, courses management and more thanks to the golf business discovery sessions that are included in the programme.

Faithful sponsor of the association from its beginning, the Lacoste Foundation is proud of bringing its support to the Birdies of Mogador through this worthy programme.
