Inkster calls for friendly matches

American Solheim Cup veteran Juli Inkster has called for this years match at Interlachen to be played without any animosity that marred previous Solheim Cups, most notably Loch Lomond in 2000 where controversy erupted when Swede Annika Sorenstam was asked to replay a chip shot she had already holed, having been adjudicated to have played out of turn.

“I think this year, it’s going to have a completely different feel,” said Inkster at the Safeway Classic on the LPGA.

“The European players and I think that everyone wants to get back to what it’s supposed to be, a competition. We want to win, they want to win and they did that last time with a lot of players with team sportsmanship.
