Westrup leads as play suspended for threat of lightning

Sweden’s Caroline Westrup posted the target with a round of five under 67 in the first round of the UniCredit Ladies German Open on Thursday morning.

She held a two stroke lead in the clubhouse when play was suspended due to the threat of lightning at 1.25pm local time after a morning of glorious sunshine.

Celine Palomar, Bree Arthur, Joanna Klatten and Sophie Gustafson had all signed for rounds of three under 69 just before the horn sounded for dangerous conditions.

Laura Davies and Hannah Burke, who are both in contention, were on the 18th green.
