The power of our players, as shown by the “Power Drive Test by Bushnell” campaign

Followers of the LET media sites will have noticed that “Power Drive Test by Bushnell” competitions have been running recently.

Members of the public were invited to guess which player would hit the most powerful drive during the UniCredit Ladies German Open presented by Audi in May and June’s Raiffenseinbank Prague Masters, with the prospect of winning a brand new Bushnell Pro 1M Laser Rangefinder, worth approximately $600 USD.

Both campaigns showed the power of the Ladies European Tour members and drew entries from 800 contestants, but Don Stiffler and Greg Herrington, both from USA, were the lucky winners.

During the first campaign, when we asked: “Which player will hit the most powerful drive during the UniCredit Ladies German Open presented by Audi?” the majority of contestants (more than 34%) thought that Sophie Gustafson would be the longest – and they were right!

The Swedish Solheim Cup player hit the longest drive of the tournament during the third round, with a total distance of 330 yards on a drive hit on the front nine (as shown by her pictured statistics card). The second longest drive during the event was one of 309 yards by Carly Booth during her second round and Booth also hit a 305 yard drive during her first round.

During the second campaign, which featured the competition question: “Which player will hit the most powerful drive during the Raiffenseinbank Prague Masters?” the majority of contestants (over 24%) thought that Carly Booth would be the longest, followed by 21% who thought that it would be Laura Davies. The longest driving distance during the event was actually recorded by Laura Davies with 315 yards during the final round on hole-nine. The second longest drive during the event was again recorded by Laura during round two at 300 yards but a drive of the same distance was hit by Carmen Alonso during her first round.

During the two events, the average driving distance recorded by the players mentioned above was approximately 270 yards: these girls can hit the ball hard!

Congratulations to both winners who can now start measuring their own driving distances using their new Bushnell Pro 1M Laser Rangefinders.
