Korea’s Jenny Shin sits at the top of the Ladies European Tour (LET) Rookie of the Year standings following her win at the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open.
Shin produced a wire-to-wire victory at Dundonald Links carding rounds of 66 (-6), 67 (-5), 71 (-1) and 75 (+3) to win with nine-under-par.
It is a second LPGA Tour title for Shin, who won the 2016 Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America, and a first title on the LET.
“My first win didn’t really feel like a win at the time. I didn’t feel like I deserved it, but this one definitely feels a lot different,” said Shin.
“This one feels like I earned it. I worked hard for it. I started working with my putting coach four years ago and he asked me what my goal was. I said I needed to win before I retire, so I had been wanting it so badly in the last four years. I’m very excited.”
The 33-year-old took up LET membership and is now a rookie. She gained 750 points for her win in Scotland, as well as 13.57 points for her T47 finish at the AIG Women’s Open.
Shin leads the rankings with 763.57 points ahead of Anna Morgan of the USA, who is in second place with 573.43 points.
Spain’s Carolina Chacarra is now third with 523.14 points to her name following her maiden title at the Hulencourt Women’s Open.
England’s Caley McGinty is in fourth just 10 points further back with Italy’s Roberta Liti in fifth.
