UTAMA MAKES THE WEEKEND IN MAJOR DEBUT AT ROYAL LYTHAM & ST ANNES

Aunchisa Utama

Aunchisa Utama teed it up in a Major championship for the first time at the age of 35 this week.

The Ladies European Tour (LET) winner secured her place in the 2026 AIG Women’s Open thanks to her victory at the Dutch Ladies Open in June.

Utama has been enjoying her week at Royal Lytham & St Annes soaking up every second of playing in a Major.

The Thai star produced rounds of 73 (+2) and 69 (-2) to be in a share of 20th place heading into the weekend.

“I’m so happy now because on my last hole I make birdie, it’s incredible for me. This is my first major, I’m so happy,” she said. “Everything is fantastic. I love like everything here. I’ve been practicing a lot since last year.

“Last week I tried to get used to playing with the Links course and the wind. Finally, I make it better, so I made the cut. My best part of my game is my putter. Today I only had one bogey. That’s amazing for me.

“I still cannot believe that I won [on the LET] and I’m here right now. Making the cut is amazing for me. It’s a new experience. Everything is very new for me. I will try to calm down because I have a lot of nerves. It’s exciting, the crowds, the players.”
