FANTASTIC FORBRIGD CARDS HOLE-IN-ONE IN CHINA

It was a Thursday to remember for Dorthea Forbrigd at the Aramco China Championship as the Norwegian carded a hole-in-one to move into contention at Mission Hills.

Starting her day with seven straight pars in Shenzhen, Forbrigd hit the perfect shot at the par-3 8th holing out from 121 yards. The ace – her first ever on the Ladies European Tour (LET) – sparked jubilant scenes alongside teammates Shannon Tan, Diksha Dagar and Amy Taylor.

“Honestly, I wasn’t making any putts so I was really happy with the hole-in-one!” the 28-year-old said. “If not, I feel like my round might have felt quite mediocre considering the quality of the ball-striking today. That’s my third hole-in-one and I was glad I finally got one in a tournament. I hoped the TV cameras had been on!”

With the ace, Forbrigd becomes the 15th member to make a hole-in-one on the LET in 2025. It would prove to be a solid opening day for the Norweigan who would go bogey-free carding birdies at the 10th and 18th to post a 69 (-4).

Still chasing a maiden victory on the LET, Forbrigd sits two shots behind Sweden’s Moa Folke following 18 holes of action.

“It was very solid out there,” Forbrigd explained. “Bogey-free. I hit a lot of really good shots. Super steady today and hopefully more of the same tomorrow but with a few more long putts.”

In the Team competition, Forbrigd’s side, led by Order of Merit leader Tan, sit in a tie for ninth on a score of -14. They are five shots back from leaders Team Fuenfstueck.

“Diksha [Dagar] actually hit the pin on the other par-3 as well,” Forbrigd said. “So we were thinking everyone in the group might try for a hole-in-one! But it was super nice playing with them all today. Three really nice people. We had a lot of fun and a good round together.”

Round two of the Aramco China Championship will begin at 7.45 am (local time) with Team Tan teeing off last at 9.11 am (local time) on the World Cup Course at Mission Hills China.
