TAMBURLINI TAKING CONFIDENCE AFTER ANOTHER TOP-10 HEADING INTO ARAMCO CHINA CHAMPIONSHIP

Chiara Tamburlini

Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini heads into the penultimate event of the Ladies European Tour (LET) season with confidence after recording another top-10 finish last time out.

The three-time LET winner ended the week in T8 at the Wistron Ladies Open earlier in October, which was her 10th top-10 of the season – the most of any LET player in 2025.

Tamburlini heads to the Aramco China Championship in great form and Mission Hills China is a course she knows well, as she was the winning Team captain here last year and she finished T3 in the Individual competition.

“Last year was really cool,” she said. “I remember we had a really cool team and I really enjoyed myself. It was a great stretch overall for me at this time of the year last year.

“I found some good things in my swing and got some good momentum, so that was cool. Hopefully, I will try and build on it. It’s playing a bit differently this year. The greens are better, they’re a bit firmer and it’s a bit softer on the fairway, so it’s playing a little longer.

“It’s a cool golf course. There are a good amount of opportunities but everything needs to be quite sharp because once you miss the greens, it’s not super easy around the greens. With the firm greens, I have had to adjust the landing zones a little bit compared to last year.

“It’s always nice to have played the golf course before. I remember 18 I am very pleased. Consistency isn’t an easy thing and yes, I haven’t won but being able to be in the top-10 that often is an achievement too. It’s definitely something I have to remind myself that I’ve been there consistently and I have to take confidence from that.”

Following the Wistron Ladies Open, the 2024 LET Order of Merit winner enjoyed a holiday in Thailand with fellow LET professionals.

“The week in Thailand was so fun,” she explained. “We had six girls and we just had the best time. We still practiced, but it was nice to have people to practice with and it was nice weather.

“We went into Bangkok, had time by the pool, Thai massage, good chats. It was just really fun. I always enjoy going home but it was nice to have that as an alternative during the Asian swing.”

The Aramco China Championship is the final PIF Global Series event of the year following events in Riyadh in February, Seoul in May, London in August and Houston in September.

There is a 36-hole Team competition alongside a 54-hole Individual stroke play, with a cut to the top 60 professionals and ties after 36 holes.

Tamburlini picked Irish rookie Anna Foster to be part of her team and they will also be joined by Morocco’s Maha Haddioui and Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Soenderby.

She added: “I chose Anna because I know her from college, she makes a lot of birdies and she’s really nice. She seems to have a good attitude on the golf course as well, which is important. I’m very excited to play with her.

“My hopes are to enjoy it this week. It’s my last LET event of the year. I have some mental goals, so I will try and tick those boxes and see where we finish.”

The Aramco China Championship takes place on the World Cup Course at Mission Hills China between 6-8 November.
