Anne-Lise Caudal was pleased with her start on home soil as she produced a round of 68 (-3) on the first day of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
The two-time LET winner made her 21st start in her home open today as she played alongside Germany’s Verena Gimmy and Finland’s Noora Komulainen.
Caudal had six birdies and three bogeys on her scorecard at Golf Barrière with an opening round of 68 (-3) to sit in a share of eighth place after the first round.
“I’m very happy with my start,” she said. “It’s always nice to shoot under-par and especially here at the French Open – my 21st one. I played really well, I missed two shots today which cost me bogeys on 14 and 15, but it was pretty easy apart from that.
“I hit the ball quite well; I didn’t miss a lot of fairways. I did miss one on 14, I had a bad lie, so it was a tough second shot. I also hit some good second shots quite close, I only holed one long putt today. I gave myself a lot of opportunities that were within two metres.”
Caudal turned professional in December 2006 and has two LET victories to her name – the 2008 Ladies Open of Portugal and 2012 Ladies German Open.
The 41-year-old admits she has struggled in 2025 but is happy to have her parents watching her and her wife Lee-Anne Pace caddying for her.
She continued: “I’m very happy to be here, I’m very proud to still be playing in the French Open. I don’t know if I’m going to play it, maybe for one more year. I’ve had a tough year this year on my personal side, I’m trying to rebuild myself to have more fight on the course again. I took some time off and some time for myself this year.
“This week I’m very happy, my parents are here, and they haven’t seen me play for maybe five years. It’s nice, I have my sponsors, my friends and Lee-Anne on the bag, so I can just smile.”
