FIELD BREAKDOWN: 2025 AMUNDI EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

It’s the fourth Major championship of the year this week as the Amundi Evian Championship takes place from July 10-13 at Evian Resort Golf Club.

A field of 132 players representing 32 nations will tee it up in a 72-hole stroke play competition for a prize purse of $8 million (USD), with a cut to the top-65 professionals and ties at the midway mark.

Defending champion Ayaka Furue of Japan is back to try and retain her title, after she rolled in an eagle at the last in 2024 to defeat Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou. The Japanese star is one of nine former champions to tee it up this week including home favourite Celine Boutier (2023) and 2026 European Solheim Cup captain Anna Nordqvist (2017).

There are 11 Ladies European Tour (LET) tournament winners from 2025 in the field this week, vying for more success. They are England’s Cara Gainer (Lalla Meryem Cup), Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul (Saudi Ladies International), Belgium’s Manon De Roey (Australian Women’s Classic), England’s Mimi Rhodes (Ford Women’s NSW Open, Joburg Ladies Open, Dutch Ladies Open), France’s Perrine Delacour (Investec SA Women’s Open), Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim (Aramco Korea Championship), Czechia’s Sara Kouskova (Jabra Ladies Open, Tenerife Women’s Open), Wales’ Darcey Harry (Hulencourt Women’s Open), South Africa’s Casandra Alexander (Tipsport Czech Ladies Open), Singapore’s Shannon Tan (Amundi German Masters), and Lottie Woad (KPMG Women’s Irish Open).

World number one amateur Woad claimed a six-shot victory at last week’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open becoming the first amateur to win on the LET in three years since Jana Melichova in 2022.

All three Major champions from 2025 are also in attendance with Japan’s Mao Saigo (Chevron Championship), Sweden’s Maja Stark (U.S. Women’s Open) and Australia’s Minjee Lee (KPMG Women’s PGA Championship) all hoping for more major success.

Eight LET players will be making their Amundi Evian Championship debut this week with Wales’ Harry, England’s Rhodes and Gainer, France’s Nastasia Nadaud, Germany’s Helen Briem, Czechia’s Kouskova, Morocco’s Maha Haddioui and South Africa’s Alexander.
