ALEXANDER REACHES CAREER-BEST WORLD RANKING AFTER AWESOME APRIL

Casandra Alexander

Casandra Alexander had two weeks to remember during the South African swing of the 2025 Ladies European Tour (LET) season.

The 25-year-old, who lives in Johannesburg, finished as a runner-up at the Joburg Ladies Open held at Modderfontein Golf Club.

Alexander then backed up that performance with another runner-up finish at the Investec South African Women’s Open at Erinvale Country and Golf Estate.

Both weeks were the South African’s best-ever result on the LET with her previous best being T3 at last year’s Aramco Team Series – Korea.

The events were co-sanctioned with the Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT) and as such Alexander also took home the overall Investec Order of Merit title, having not finished outside the top five in seven tournaments in 2025 which included one victory.

“It’s been a great start to the year. It’s been a long run that we’ve been on as I’ve been going since Morocco, but it’s always so special to start the year at home,” she said.

“I played really well and I definitely think my game is heading in the right direction. It was also really important that I performed at the two LET co-sanctioned events, not just the SLT events, and that was a big one for me about how I translate that play from SLT to LET.

“I won on the SLT on a golf course that doesn’t suit my game at all and I got the job done there and played some really good golf. It shows as a team, we’ve been working on the right things mentally, swing-wise and physically in the gym etc.

“The two weeks are always special for me being at home. I haven’t always had the greatest performances in those two events. It really sucks to come second, but it is my best-ever result on the LET, so as much as we really want to win. It’s great that I’ve had two weeks in a row being consistent on two very different golf courses.”

With Alexander finding such consistency on the golf course that has been reflected in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

The SLT Order of Merit winner began the year in 141st place and has now climbed into the top 100 for the first time, sitting in 87th position in the rankings.

Meanwhile, in the LET Order of Merit, the South African star has also made a big move and now sits in third place with 651.10 points.

Alexander is now looking forward to the rest of the season where she will be able to play with freedom and be aggressive.

She continued: “It gives me a tonne of confidence, I have just played eight weeks of golf in a row and finished top five every week. Taking that confidence to Europe, I feel like it’s going to be a really special year.

“Hopefully, we can sneak in a win there somewhere along the lines. I’m definitely feeling the most confident I have and having those points heading into the rest of the season solidifies playing golf freely.

“I’m really looking forward to the AIG Women’s Open this year and trying to take as many of my team as I can because last year I didn’t have a big crowd. I’m really excited for that; I think the golf course will be fantastic and the event is always fantastic so really looking forward to that.

“My goal for the year was to get into the top 100 in the Rolex Rankings and I’ve just done that so that’s been ticked off. There is always the goal to win, but it’s not a written down goal because if you’re doing the right things then that will come on its own and you don’t have to force it.

“The biggest goal for me besides winning and top 100 is to finish the year happy and content with what I’ve done. It’s so easy for us as professional athletes to put a lot of pressure on ourselves to win and get the job done and sometimes, we end the year on a low because we haven’t achieved what we wanted to. So, the big goal of the year is to end the year happy, have enjoyed it, and done my best.”
