Lee-Anne Pace is amongst the 132-player field at the 2025 Investec South African Women’s Open, where she has consistently been a strong contender over the years.
The South African, who is from Cape Town, has a remarkable history with the tournament, being a five-time champion of this one already. Her most recent wins were back-to-back victories in 2022 and 2021 – on Steenberg Golf Club and Westlake Golf Club, respectively.
“It’s my favorite event, my family get to come out and see me play and obviously it’s a very prestigious event in South Africa”, said the 11-time LET winner. “I’ll have some home support this week from family and friends which is really nice – not too many but they’re pretty loud so sound like a lot. It’s great to have little bit of a boost of energy from the side”, she continued.
With 11 Ladies European Tour (LET) victories, 14 Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT) titles, and an LPGA Tour win under her belt, Pace has the experience and the composure to perform under pressure.
“I’m going into this week with more excitement than pressure. I’m coming into a bit of form this week so I hope I can carry that over to this week”, said the 44-year-old.
Pace lives about 50km from the course but is staying more locally this week with her wife Anne-Lise Caudal, fellow LET player who is also in the field this week.
She finished T10 last week at the Joburg Ladies Open at Modderfontein Golf Club, and will be hoping to bring forward that momentum.
The South African has played more than 250 LET events since turning pro in 2005. “It’s a nice LET schedule this year, a couple of breaks in between so I’m looking forward to it and just want to have fun out there,” she said.
She will be playing round one at 12:34pm (local time) tomorrow, alongside England’s Cara Gainer and Annabell Fuller.
