Jeeno Thitikul is returning to the Ladies European Tour (LET) this week and looking forward to kickstarting her 2025 season.
The Thai superstar had an excellent end to last season on the LPGA Tour with victory at the CME Group Tour Championship, as well as second place at the Grant Thornton Invitational and second place at the Maybank Championship.
Thitikul, who is number four in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, won the 2021 Race to Costa del Sol, Rookie of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year on the LET.
After a busy winter break, the 21-year-old is excited to begin her season at this week’s PIF Saudi Ladies International at Riyadh Golf Club.
“I’m super excited for this week,” said Thitikul. “The LET feels like my home because I started from the LET and then went to the U.S. and I’m super excited for the first event of the year. I’m definitely going to be nervous on the first tee.
“It’s a really good feeling to carry on over the off-season until now because I had a really good finish last year. Going back to Thailand, it’s a busy life for me because there’s lots of stuff going on but it’s a good problem. I still really want to carry on the good vibes that were happening at CME and Grant Thornton as well to here.”
The PIF Saudi Ladies International will take place from February 13-15 at Riyadh Golf Club with a total prize fund of $5 million USD up for grabs.
There will be a 54-hole individual stroke play competition taking place alongside a 36-hole Team competition.
The four-time LET winner was a Captain this week and chose fellow Thai player Pornanong Phatlum to be in her team, they will also be joined by Germany’s Laura Fuenfstueck and Ireland’s Lauren Walsh.
“I’m definitely going to bring the fun this week,” continued Thitikul. “I picked Pornanong because she’s a Thai golfer and I’m definitely going to have a lot of fun with this unique event, with the team side of it.
“I think they organise the event pretty nicely and then you see a lot of LPGA and top players in the world coming here to compete together. I love when the team format comes in.
“That’s why I came here because you see a lot of good vibes, there’s the unique draft and picking your teammates. Especially starting the year, it’s nice because there’s not as much pressure, that’s why I love starting here.
“I think on your off-season, you want to go and play and then when you’re playing, you want some time off. I will be nervous! The preparation has been nice, I’m still working on the same things and I’m trying to not stretch myself too much or give myself any expectations this year.”
