After a tremendous season on the LET Access Series [LETAS] Sweden’s Kajsa Arwefjäll is excited to finish 2024 off at the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
The 24-year-old won twice on the feeder circuit this year en route to clinching the Order of Merit to secure full Ladies European Tour (LET) playing rights.
“It means so much,” Arwefjäll said, who also won on LETAS in 2021 as an amateur. “It was my goal for the season to get the card on the LET. Coming right out of college too. It’s super fun.
“I had so many highlights in 2024. Since it was my last semester of college [at San Jose State University], I would have to say [one highlight] was winning conference with my team. And winning as an individual was also super fun.
“I would also have to playing the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Playing the last round there with my dad and coach as a caddie. Then on the Access Series my two wins were super fun too.”
Turning professional shortly after graduating in the Spring, Arwefjäll hit the ground running on the LET Access Series [LETAS] finishing fifth at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge, runner-up at the Santander Golf Tour – AVILA, before winning the MoreGolf Mastercard Open in Sweden.
Another runner-up finish and victory followed at the Destination Gotland Ladies Open as Arwefjäll was able to pip Helen Briem to the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year double.
One of 31 Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) players teeing up at DLF Golf & Country Club this week, Arwefjäll is now looking forward to capping off what has been a season of highs.
“My experience has been great so far,” she said. “I’ve never been to India before so just being here is amazing. It’s very different from Sweden I would say! I’ve met so many nice people so far and I’m excited to finish this year off here.
“I know I can play well. I’ve been playing very good golf in the practice rounds. It’s just getting it together during tournament days. Hopefully I can do that. I would love to be in the mix. The course is narrow. A lot of tee shots where you really have to hit the fairway otherwise you’re lost. But I feel like the course is playing to my strengths. Off the tee is where I’m best so I feel like it’s a good thing.”
While Arwefjäll is also buoyed on by Chiara Tamburlini’s excellent season – the fellow LETAS graduate who has gone on to win three times on the main circuit this year.
“It’s super cool,” the Swede said. “I played with Chiara both in college and as an amateur too. She’s a super nice girl and seeing her do so well it just makes you want to do it too. It boosts my confidence a little.“
Arwefjäll is first out at the 2024 Hero Women’s Indian Open tomorrow as she tees up at 6:35am alongside Scotland’s Laura Beveridge and Spain’s Paz Marfa Sanz.
