DIMMOCK HOPING TO KICK ON AFTER VICTORY IN IRELAND

Annabel Dimmock

Annabel Dimmock completed her comeback from injury with victory at the 2024 KPMG Women’s Irish Open last time out.

The Englishwoman had seven months out of the game due to a thumb injury but returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in five years in Ireland.

Having had a couple of weeks for the win to settle in, Dimmock is raring to get going again on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

“It’s been really nice,” said Dimmock. “Obviously, I’ve had a lot of people coming up to me and congratulating me. It’s so nice to see how many people were really happy for me.

“That was quite touching, the messages that I’ve got from people. I’ve had two weeks to thoroughly enjoy it which was nice that I was playing back-to-back because then it’s a new winner straight away.

“I’ve had two weeks to soak it all up, but now I want to get back into the swing of things. I don’t want to forget about it because I’m definitely walking around with more of a smile on my face but I’m back to the grind now and I want to win again. I’m back to the grind now, I’m hungry again. There will be a new champion this week and I want it to be me again.”

This week sees the LET return with La Sella Open hosted at La Sella Golf Resort in Denia, Alicante in Spain.

The 27-year-old will begin her title tilt at 9.47 am (local time) alongside Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino and Morocco’s Ines Laklalech.

Dimmock believes the course will provide more of a challenge in 2024 compared to the inaugural edition in 2023.

“It’s good, I think it’s quite tough,” she continued. “I don’t think I’ll be shooting the score I did at the Irish. It’s tough. If you get it in the fairway, you can score but if you don’t, the rough is up.

“It’s playing a lot longer than it did last year. There is a lot of grain on the greens, and I’ve had to spend a lot of time around there because I’m not used to chipping out of this grass. Hopefully, I don’t miss too many greens, so I don’t have to chip around too much.

“It feels really nice to come back here. Hopefully, I can go out there and play with a bit of confidence this week coming off the back of the last tournament. I just want to knuckle down now and keep pushing.

“There are still things I’m working on, I’m not 100% there probably with my recovery. I’m probably 95% there, but I’m still doing a lot of things to get myself 100% fit.”
