It is the 17th stop of the 2024 Ladies European Tour (LET) season with the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London.
Centurion Club is hosting the tournament which sees two competitions happening side by side.
Before play gets started, here are five things to watch out for…
2024 LET winners vying for more success
The Tour is now over halfway through the 2024 season and there are nine LET winners from 2024 who are teeing it up in London.
Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit who won the 2024 Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF in February is back on the LET and playing in an Aramco Team Series event for the first time since 2022.
She is joined by Singapore’s Shannon Tan (Magical Kenya Ladies Open), England’s Bronte Law (Lalla Meryem Cup), Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe (Women’s NSW Open), Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini (Joburg Ladies Open) and Belgium’s Manon De Roey (Investec SA Women’s Open).
While the champions from the past three LET events are also in town with England’s Amy Taylor (Ladies Italian Open), Spain’s Marta Martin (Tipsport Czech Ladies Open) and England’s Alice Hewson (VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open) all come into the event in good form.
Solheim Stars aplenty
With another Solheim Cup on the horizon, there are lots of players who have played in the prestigious competition playing this week.
Six of Europe’s Team from the 2023 competition are her with English duo Georgia Hall and Charley Hull, Swedish pair Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall, as well as Ireland’s Leona Maguire and Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen.
However, they are not the only Solheim Cup stars in attendance with Germany’s Sophia Popov, England’s Bronte Law and Dutch star Anne Van Dam also all in the field.
But the Solheim Cup interest doesn’t stop there as Angel Yin and Alison Lee, who have both represented the United States, are also teeing it up at Centurion.
Innovative format
As with the first two Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF events of 2024, the format will see both the Team and Individual competitions being played simultaneously.
The Team competition will be played over 36-holes over the first two days with the best two scores counting, while the Individual is a 54-hole stroke play competition with the last round just having the top-60 professionals and ties competing.
There are 108 professionals teeing it up this week and there will be 36 teams contending for the top prize. Each team will consist of three professionals and one amateur with captains decided based upon the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings on Monday 24th June.
Former champions in town
With the opportunity to win an Individual LET title, as well as being part of a winning team, this event allows players to be more aggressive and bring their best game to the golf course.
Two players who know what it takes to win the Individual title at Centurion are Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord and England’s Bronte Law, who won the crown in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
England’s Georgia Hall is the defending Team captain having guided her quartet to success in the 2023 edition, and she is also joined previous winning captains Olivia Cowan of Germany and South Africa’s Nicole Garcia.
Order of Merit heating up
As the season is past the halfway point, the LET Order of Merit is heating up with those vying for top spot at the end of the year.
England’s Bronte Law still leads the way with 1,273.60 points to her name but with eight of the top 10 in attendance this week, there is a chance for the three-time LET winner to be overtaken.
Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini, Belgium’s Manon De Roey, England’s Alice Hewson, England’s Charley Hull and Singapore’s Shannon Tan all have the opportunity to go to the top of the standings with a win.
