This week sees the Ladies European Tour (LET) play the second of two events in Australia.
Bonville Golf Resort is the venue for this week’s Australian Women’s Classic – Presented by Pacific Bay Resort Studios which is taking place April 5-7.
Before the tournament gets underway on Friday, here are a few talking points to look out for…
Uribe full of confidence
Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe secured a one-shot victory at last week’s Women’s NSW Open which was held at Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club.
It was a first victory for Uribe since 2011 and saw her jump from 474 up to 217th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The Colombian has taken up LET membership following her victory and will be hoping to have another good week in Australia.
Order of Merit leader Law in fine form
Bronte Law has been on a hot streak of form in the past two months, as she won her third LET title at the Lalla Meryem Cup in February.
The Englishwoman then finished third in the Individual event at the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Tampa and second in last week’s Women’s NSW Open.
Law has a 383.33-point lead at the top of the LET Order of Merit having accumulated 1,058.75 points from her first five events of the year.
MacLaren back to scene of victory
The last time the LET was at Bonville Golf Resort, England’s Meghan MacLaren secured her third LET title.
MacLaren rolled in a birdie putt on 18 to beat Sweden’s Maja Stark and clinch her third title in Australia.
It is the first time the Englishwoman has been able to defend a title and return to the same golf course and she is looking for a good week ahead.
Countries from all over the world represented
There is a record number of nationalities on the LET in 2024 with 402 members coming from 43 different nationalities.
At Bonville this week, there will be 133 players from 37 different nations teeing it up – the most in 2024 so far.
Some of the countries, the players are from include the Philippines, Panama, Singapore, Hong Kong, Colombia, Taiwan and the Cook Islands.
Aussies hoping to impress
There is plenty of Australian interest again this week as the LET tees off for the second tournament in Australia.
Amateur Justice Bosio secured her spot in this week’s event thanks to her T6 finish at Magenta Shores and is one of 29 Aussies teeing it up.
Bosio is also joined by the LET player Kirsten Rudgeley, who sits 41st in the Order of Merit, Epson Tour player Cassie Porter and a host of others.
