Spain’s Teresa Diez Moliner didn’t let her previous season define her next as she put on a spectacular show at the LET Q School in Morocco.
After eight gruelling rounds, Diez Moliner navigated the Pre-Qualifiers and Final Qualifiers to finish 16th on 11-under-par.
The 24-year-old from Spain had her Christmas wishes come true when she scooped her LET card for the 2024 season and set herself up for a first full season.
Speaking about how it first felt to hold her tour card, Diez Moliner said: “I was super happy and super proud.
“It came down to the last hole, I saw the leaderboard and knew I needed to go lower than ten under. On the 18th, I knew I had to get a birdie and I got it.
“We celebrated a bit, but it didn’t sink in until I came back home. I just remember being super super happy, celebrating with my family and my team.”
After missing out at the 2022 Q School, Diez Moliner decided to concentrate all her efforts on earning an LET card through the LET Access Series (LETAS).
Diez Moliner had a promising start to her LETAS season with a top 10 at the season opener in her home country, Santander Golf Tour- Girona.
Yet, the Spaniard couldn’t continue the momentum and finished 40th on the LETAS Order of Merit.
“It has been a tough year to be honest. I started off the season playing well but then the rest did not go as planned.
“My brother started working with me later into the season, we changed a couple of things. I got my trust back and the last tournaments were to prepare for Q School.
“My game was getting better and better. I was confident heading into Q School.”
Although Diez Moliner, who turned professional in 2021 didn’t have the season she wanted the Spaniard insists she is pleased she made the decision to play the year on LETAS.
“The LET Access Series is such a big family, the environment is lovely and everything over there is great.
“The tour got us really prepared. I feel like the standard out there is getting better and better, it was an amazing experience.”
Now Diez Moliner is ecstatic for the new year and to be given more opportunities on a larger stage.
“I’m excited about being able to play the whole year. It’s going to be pretty much a full schedule so I’m excited about that and having a lot of opportunities.
“I want to perform better and better after each tournament.”
Since Christmas, Diez Moliner has enjoyed some well-deserved rest and holiday time but is now ready to get back in the swing of it.
“I haven’t set clear goals yet, keeping my card for the year is a big target.
“I definitely want to get better a hundred metres into the flag, my chipping is a key area to work on.”
It was Spanish superiority at Q School as four other compatriots qualified alongside Diez Moliner, which made the experience extra special.
“It was awesome to have quite a few other Spanish qualify with me. It’s a big Spanish crew and we’re going to be travelling all together, so it’s nice to have them on the side.”
Diez Moliner plans to get her season underway at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in just under a month’s time.
