TEAM CAPTAINS MAKE THEIR PICKS AT THE DRAFT IN HONG KONG

The Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Hong Kong sees the unique format return once again and is nearing the start of play.

Two competitions will take place side by side with 84 professionals competing in a 54-hole stroke play, as well as a 36-hole Team competition.

On Wednesday night, the Draft took place in Hong Kong where the Teams for the week were chosen. The captains were decided based on the 28 best-ranked players in the field in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings on Monday 25th September.

Captains were able to pick one professional to join their team, while the third professional was randomly assigned before an amateur was also added to the team.

World number one Lilia Vu had the last pick of the evening and chose England’s Lily May Humphreys – the duo played against each other in the 2018 Curtis Cup – and they are joined by Switzerland’s Tiffany Arafi.

Jin Young Ko, who is number three in the world rankings, opted for LET rookie Yuri Onishi of Japan and they will also have Scotland’s Michele Thomson, who was part of the winning team at the inaugural Saudi Ladies Team International.

Individual champion from Florida Carlota Ciganda picked France’s Agathe Sauzon with Scotland’s Kelsey Macdonald making up the trio.

Fellow European Solheim Cup star Caroline Hedwall chose Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord with Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom being the third player.

The latest LET winner Johanna Gustavsson picked Scotland’s Laura Beveridge and they will be joined by Sweden’s Emma Nilsson – who caddied for Gustavsson in the final round last week.

Two-time winning captain Nicole Garcia stuck with a combination that has worked previously opting for compatriot Casandra Alexander – who has won the team competition three times – with Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen making up the trio.

LET winner Trichat Cheenglab, who is leading Rookie of the Year, picked a former winning captain in Austria’s Christine Wolf and they also have Czechia’s Jana Melichova.
