PEDERSEN WINS INAUGURAL ‘LET BREAK PAR CHALLENGE POWERED BY GOLF SAUDI’

Emily Kristine Pedersen added to her trophy cabinet this week with victory in the inaugural LET Break Par Challenge Powered by Golf Saudi, winning €5,000 to donate to a charity close to her heart, the ‘Pink Cup Breast Cancer Foundation’.

The big-hitting Dane has been in sizzling form all year, winning an impressive five LET tournaments and breaking par no less than 26 times from 42 rounds. Accumulating an astonishing 13 eagles in the process – more than double her nearest challenger – the 24-year-old was awarded 65 points for her efforts and combined with an unrivalled birdie tally of 158, she triumphed at the top of the leaderboard by a mammoth 54 points.

Not even an albatross from Manon de Roey in Czech Republic (worth 40 points) and hole-in-one from four different players could stop her and as a result of the victory, Pedersen will donate €5,000 to the ‘Pink Cup Breast Cancer Foundation’, for which she is an ambassador.

Speaking about the achievement, Pedersen said, “I’m delighted to have won this challenge. It has been exciting for me to try and make birdies and eagles to win points throughout the season and I am proud to be able to make positive change for the ‘Pink Cup Breast Cancer Foundation’ as a result of my play. It is always fun to shoot under par but having this new challenge to think about and seeing the leaderboard each week has been something I have had my eye on and I am extremely pleased to win the award and donate money to them.”

Commenting on the season-long challenge, Alexandra Armas, Ladies European Tour, CEO, said: “We launched the LET Break Par Challenge as a fun way to highlight the exceptional skill and talent that our Tour has to offer. Emily is a worthy winner of the first edition and has played some magnificent golf, making eagles and birdies when they mattered the most. Golf Saudi have been terrific supporters of the LET this year and our partnership with them on this challenge highlights their commitments to showcasing the women’s game on the global stage.”

Majed Al Sorour, CEO of Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation said: “The Break Par Challenge has been a fantastic initiative and through our involvement, we wanted to show Golf Saudi’s support for not just the women’s game but other causes too, in what has been a difficult year. There are some brilliant players currently competing on the Ladies European Tour but this fun and exciting concept has a worthy winner in Emily Kristine Pedersen.”

“We were lucky enough to see Emily’s talent in-person as she completed the remarkable achievement of the “Saudi Sweep” winning all three trophies at our inaugural women’s tournaments in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. We are delighted to see her secure this year’s edition of the Race to the Costa del Sol and for Golf Saudi to play our part in ensuring this great sport delivers benefit to worthy causes.” For information about the LET Break Par Challenge Powered by Golf Saudi, and final rankings, please visit:  https://ladieseuropeantour.com/let-break-par-challenge/
