PEDERSEN PULLS CLEAR – LET BREAK PAR CHALLENGE POWERED BY GOLF SAUDI UPDATE

Pedersen moves 41 points clear with one event remaining

Emily Kristine Pedersen continued to add to her trophy cabinet with victory in both the individual and team event at the Saudi Ladies Team International and is set to collect another title at the LET Break Par Challenge Powered by Golf Saudi, which concludes this week.

The big-hitting Dane extended her lead from 28 points to 41 atop the rankings from Belgium’s Manon De Roey, courtesy of yet another eagle (her 11th of the year) and a barrage of birdies at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club.

Heading into the season finale at the Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open De Espana, the Race to Costa del Sol leader made more birdies than anyone in the 108-play field (18) last week and is in line to collect the winner’s prize of €5,000 to donate to her chosen charity.

With as many as 25 points on offer for an albatross, her nearest challengers will need something special if they are to overturn the five-time LET winner’s lead.

Sweden’s Jenny Haglund recorded the fourth ‘ace’ of the LET season, following Linette Holmslykke, Julia Engstrom and Caroline Hedwall, with a pin-point five iron from 153 yards to help her team to fourth place while Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou went on a rampage, closing with two eagles in a course-record final round 63 (-9).

Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen made up ground on the top three with two eagles and 13 birdies to draw level with Sweden’s Julia Engstrom in T3 while France’s Celine Herbin regained 8th spot at the expense of Germany’s Laura Fuenfstueck while Cowan moved back into the top ten with a strong showing in her final round.

Sweden’s Julia Engstrom still holds the record for most birdies at an event, firing an impressive 24 at the Women’s New South Wales Open earlier in the season.
